Coronavirus frenzy
Thought I'd start this topic since we all live in different countries.
What's it like where you live? Did you witness some panic buying already? I was reading this Facebook post the other day from an Australian children books' author about toilet paper being one if not the first product to be sold out in her area...
What people stocked up on in northern Italy: lots and lots of flour, pasta, beans and meat. Nobody dared touch penne pasta, though.

Re: Coronavirus frenzy
Here in Northeastern US the stores are getting more crowded and packed due to the virus warnings. I currently work part time at a local grocery store. One thing everyone is really stocking up on is hand sanitizer and of course lots of food.

Re: Coronavirus frenzy
Hand sanitizer has been out of stock for weeks now. I work as an apprentice payroll specialist in a small office and there's so much more work to do now for us as well as laws are changing on a daily basis (lockdown is an abstract term used by the media, there's still a good chunk of the population moving about and showing up at work every day... And I live very close to the first quarantined area). We've got masks to fight off the risk of contracting the virus, but will it be enough? I feel for you, working retail.
I'm talking to anybody: please don't underestimate this. Despite the harsh measures, Italian health care is nearly collapsing. Protect your elderly.

Re: Coronavirus frenzy
Yeah it's getting pretty bad here as well. Me and my co worker have little work to do and hardly any food to put out. Today coming in I was shocked to see almost all the food off the shelves so much shelves empty. There is even officially now one confirmed case in my area. I feel for you as well and really hope everything will be ok!

Re: Coronavirus frenzy
Update.
I happened to sneeze at the office this afternoon and everyone, including the boss, froze on the spot.
200.000 people in the area where I live, and 20+ of them are dying on a daily basis.
People are still showing up at work. It's MADNESS.

i live in lomardy and i'm fine, but being a teetotal i hate the fact cash registers are sanitized with alcohol at the supermarket!i always need to ask each cashier whether she's already done it and i even happened more than once to find out too late a register had been disinfected that way so i had to wash everything at home!
